Who we are
Founded in 1985, Veterans For Peace is a national organization with its headquarters in St. Louis, Missouri. The organization holds an annual convention every August. Our members engage in various actions, including:

Speaking about their experiences at schools and other venues.

Lobbying Congress and the President.

Participating in fact-finding delegations to Central America, Bosnia, Iraq, Chiapas (Mexico), and medical aid trips to Vietnam.
The Washtenaw County Chapter of Veterans For Peace was formed in February 2003.
Veterans For Peace Chapter 93, located in south-central Michigan, is named in honor of two legendary peace activists, Utah Phillips and J. David Singer.
Our Mission
Veterans For Peace seeks to:

Increase public awareness of the costs of war.

Restrain our government from intervening in the affairs of other nations.

Reduce the arms race and eliminate nuclear weapons.

Abolish war as an instrument of international policy.
Our Namesakes
Utah Phillips
Utah Phillips was a dedicated veteran, renowned peace activist, labor supporter, and musical troubadour. He made significant contributions to the peace movement and frequently performed at The Ark in Ann Arbor.

J. David Singer was a distinguished local scholar known for his profound work in exploring the underlying causes of war. His relentless pursuit of understanding and advocating for peace left a lasting legacy.

Becoming a Member
Annual dues are $40, with lower-income memberships available. Dues are payable to Veterans For Peace at:
