Concert for Peace

The concert was a smashing success! Best turnout in our 18 years of concerts. Even though 2 of the artists were unable to make it because of illness, the rest of the performers, filled in and joined forces to present a great concert.
Our scholarship fund benefited massively.
THANKS TO ALL THE PERFORMERS, AND TO EVERYONE WHO ATENDED.

Veterans For Peace Chapter 74 – The Michael Gramlich – Steve Saelzler – Metro Detroit
Members have been joining the numerous protests around the Detroit area. In early January VFP-74 members joined a group in downtown Detroit protesting the kidnapping of President Maduro of Venezuela. Members also joined +1000 demonstrators at a NO KINGS rally in Detroit area on March 28th. The rally included a march down “Detroit’s Main Street,” Woodward Ave. For Earth Week, VFP members reached out to the local community to show the links between U.S. militarism and the climate crisis by tabling at the Oakland County Earth Day festival and hosting a showing of Abby Martin’s documentary Earth's Greatest Enemy at the Swords Into Plowshares gallery in downtown Detroit. VFP74 member to distributed Peace & Planet News Special Issue on Militarism and Climate Crisis at Veterans and Environment caucuses at the Michigan Democratic Party Nominating Convention in Detroit (https://peaceandplanetnews.org/wp-content/uploads/2026/03/PPN-15-REPRINT-sm.pdf .)

Veterans for Peace Booth at Ann Arbor Art Fair
Our Veterans for Peace booth at the Art Fair was very busy; many people were concerned about the cuts in the VA, several veterans just wanted to talk to someone who understood them, we had some generous contributions to our Peace Scholarship Fund, and accepted donations for VFP hats and t-shitrs.
It’s one of the best spots for soaking in the vibrant energy of the fair, chatting with curious passersby, and spreading the word about what Veterans for Peace stands for.

MLK Day Talks were presented at the University of Michigan and the Ann Arbor District Library

Some say that MLK's stance against the Vietnam War weakened his stance on civil rights. Bill Shea and Mike Muha of the local Veterans For Peace Chapter 93 inquired into MLK's relationship between civil rights and militarism and discussed if the connection of this relationship is still applicable today in the global situation of war.
A video of the library talk is available at the library's YouTube site: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=52p57N9Nvsc
